Hui a Rohe

Purpose

An important objective of the programme is to ensure that iwi have a forum where important issues about repatriation can be discussed and opinions shared. Wānanga and Hui a Rohe are facilitated by Te Papa to gain feedback from iwi so that Te Papa can endeavour to facilitate their requests and provide them with further information.

There are three kaupapa for this hui

  1. Facilitate discussion to find an appropriate option regarding a final resting place for unprovenanced (unknown origin) kōiwi tangata
  2. Provide background information and an update on the Karanga Aotearoa Repatriation Programme
  3. Seek views as to the continuation of the repatriation programme beyond 30th June 2013

Schedule

More than a dozen rohe across the country have been identified as facilitation points. As each rohe and location is confirmed, this schedule will be updated. If you would like to attend a Hui a Rohe in your region, there is an online registration form under the registration section of this page.

A report for each hui a rohe will be added to this schedule as they are completed.
