Since its establishment in 2003, the Karanga Aotearoa Repatriation Programme has successfully repatriated 70 Toi moko from around the world (as at July 2012). A total of 124 Toi moko are currently in Te Papa's care, 54 of which were here prior to the programme's establishment.
