I was onboard a 28 m wooden vessel off southern Brazil, conducting mitigation research for the Projeto Albatroz and Albatross Task Force (Birdlife. Albatrosses follows fishing vessels atracted by food (baits, offal and discards)and incedentally get hooked trying to eat the baits.Thats one of the major threats to albatrosses survival. And thats is wy mitigation reserach and public policy, as well as international cooperation, are fundamental to try to save albatrosses from extinction.
