Title
Where to Erik?
Description
I had just joined a toothfish longliner as an observer and the ship was heading north from South Georgia towards Shag Rocks. We were not fishing so I was sat on the bridge photographing the many birds that were following us when I noticed that one of the wandering albatross had a tag. I managed to get a few shots of the tagged wanderer, including one of it’s Darvic ring. It turned out to be ‘Erik’, a male wandering albatross that was tagged with an ARGOS transmitter on Bird Island as part of a BBC funded project.
