PlaNet Pasifika is one of Te Papa’s four Discovery Centres. Discovery Centres are colourful, vibrant, inviting places, specifically designed for children and families to visit, and are full of hands-on exhibits as well as magazines, books, and games. Visitors are encouraged to explore, touch, play, ask questions, research, and learn.
PlaNet Pasifika showcases the diversity of expression and creativity amongst the people of Pacific Island nations. It looks at celebrations in Pacific cultures, and concentrates on body adornment and the cultural importance of tattoo, tīvaevae, and tapa. There is a research room in PlaNet Pasifika, housed in a Samoan fale (house). Here you can find magazines, reference books, selected websites.
