Aainaa: Reflections through Indian Weddings – Teacher Resource

Namaskar! Welcome to this learning resource about New Zealand’s Indian communities.

It is designed for students to learn about Hindu, Sikh, and Muslim wedding ceremonies as experienced by people living in New Zealand.

It fits in with the New Zealand Curriculum Framework and is suitable for students years 5-10, achievement levels 3-5.

The resource is based upon the exhibition Aainaa - Reflections through Indian weddings which was on display until 2004 in Te Papa’s Community Gallery. Both the exhibition and this resource have been developed with the assistance of the New Zealand Indian communities. This exhibition is now closed.
