Antarctic Heroes: Race to the South Pole – Teacher Resource

This resource is designed to support teachers in a unit of work investigating Antarctic exploration. The resource is based on the exhibition Antarctic Heroes – The race to the South Pole, which was at Te Papa from May to October 2004.

Your students will embark on their own voyage of discovery, learning about the epic stories of some of Antarctica’s greatest heroes -Captain Robert Scott, Roald Amundsen, and Ernest Shackleton. To get the most from this resource, read the stories before starting the corresponding lessons.

Antarctic Heroes links with the New Zealand Curriculum Framework and is suitable for students in years 4 to 10, achievement levels 2 to 5.
