A beautiful evening at Homewood
Posted 21/10/09
On Friday 16 October we enjoyed a wonderful evening at Homewood, the British High Commissioner's residence in Karori. The rain, which seemed never-ending earlier in the day, stopped just in time to ensure the Friends arrived safe and, more importantly, dry to the Champagne Reception. Funds raised at the event are to purchase the pounamu work Waitaiki by Lewis Gardiner as a gift to the Māori Collection and the new exhibition Kura Pounamu. In his welcome speech HE George Fergusson paid tribute to Te Papa and the Friends for creating such a wonderful exhibition.
There were some very happy guests later in the evening when Margaret Fergusson drew the winners for the raffle prizes. The winners were:
David Atkins accepting his prize
- David & Anke Atkins - one night's accommodation and dinner at the Museum Hotel
- Andrea Johnston - three nights at a Taupo lakeside holiday home
- Bruce & Louise Goble - one night's bed & breakfast at Booklovers B&B.
The committee and office staff of the Friends of Te Papa sincerely thank everyone who contributed to making the fundraiser a huge success!
