About Friends

The Friends of Te Papa is a supporter organisation of over 4,000 members. It is run by a voluntary Committee whose mission is to enable members to engage with Te Papa and to support, enjoy and learn about our cultural and natural heritage.

Membership is a great way to be involved in Te Papa. Our members enjoy an exclusive programme of special events, including private viewings of exhibitions and lectures, invitations to special exhibition previews, discounted entry to Te Papa exhibitions, a free two-monthly newsletter and 15% discount from Te Papa Store and Te Papa Kids' Store as well as 10% discount from cafes in Te Papa.

As well as fundraising and providing financial support, the Friends organise a range of public and private events offering members unique opportunities to hear more about the exhibitions and collections and meet the staff.

Committee meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month. The members are elected at the AGM which is held at the end of June each year.
