Disaster Preparedness and Responses for Libraries, Records and Archives

A one day workshop focusing on physical records, archives and books.
This workshop is being jointly organised by the University of Otago Library and Archives New Zealand’s Dunedin Regional Office.
It is being held as a follow-up to the Disaster Preparedness Recordkeeping Forum held by Archives New Zealand in Dunedin in June 2011.
The workshops will be run by Triptych Conservation Services, Wellington.
The aims of the Workshops are as follows:
- to provide participants with some practical experience about how to be prepared in the event of a disaster involving records, archives, books and other library holdings
- to provide library staff with care and handling training for books, records and archives
- to build up a pool of people in Dunedin and elsewhere who could assist each other in the event of a disaster involving their institution/organisation
- As a response to the Christchurch earthquakes
