Managing the unexpected: collection management and disasters
Tuesday 20 November 2012
Australasian Registrars Committee (ARC) seminar
The Christchurch Art Gallery have recently experienced a series of
devastating disasters that have tested every aspect of their disaster
management procedures. These extreme circumstances have caused a complete revision of the way disasters are managed within the Gallery. Gina Irish, the Gallery's registrar, will present and discuss their new cross
disciplinary approach to priority lists and the management of collections
in disasters. She will also share her experiences and observations about
the reality of disasters impacting on museums collections. This seminar is
a must for all museum staff with responsibility or interest in disaster
preparedness, insurance, and/or the preparation of priority lists.
