Paul Brewer began as Director Marketing and Communications in 1998. In this role, Paul Brewer is responsible for strategic marketing and promotions of Te Papa's products from exhibitions, events, and commercial businesses to the international tourism wholesaler markets. Paul Brewer is also responsible for visitor and market research, as well as all media liaison and public relations programmes and strategies.
Paul Brewer has previously worked in the Beehive as private secretary to several cabinet ministers, before moving into corporate communications where he has held positions including Communications Manager for the New Zealand Insurance Council and Corporate Communications Director for TOWER Financial Services. He also established his own communications consultancy, Paul Brewer and Associates.
Paul Brewer has an MA (Hons) in English Literature from the University of Auckland and a Public Relations Certificate from Massey University. In 1995, he was awarded the LVO (Lieutenant of the Royal Victorian Order) by Her Majesty the Queen.
