Clive Roberts
Position: Curator Fishes

Special interests: Systematics and biogeography of Southwest Pacific fishes; fishes of deep rocky reefs; seamount fishes; taxonomy of fish families Berycidae, Cheilodactylidae, Latridae, Polyprionidae, Serranidae, and Trachichthyidae; scale morphology; angling; scuba diving
Clive graduated with B.Sc. Hons. from Queen's University of Belfast, and emigrated to New Zealand in 1979. After completing his doctoral thesis on hapuku and bass at Victoria University of Wellington in 1986, he joined the National Museum of New Zealand as a Visiting Researcher. In 1989 he took up a research fellowship to study the fine structure of fish scales at the National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, DC, USA. He returned to the National Museum of New Zealand to the position of Ichthyologist and subsequently Curator (Fishes). Clive has published a large number of scientific papers and is particularly interested in the study of the biogeography of fishes of the Pacific Ocean. Clive was co-author of " New Zealand fish, a complete guide" and Rockpool fishes of New Zealand" .
Andrew Stewart
Position: Collection Manager Fishes
Special interests: taxonomy and identification of oceanic midwater fishes, deepwater fishes, Antarctic fishes, and anglerfishes; scuba diving; angling; hunting
Andrew attended Canterbury and Victoria Universities before joining the National Museum of New Zealand in 1982 as a science technician. In 1991 he was made Collection Manager (Fishes). Andrew has published a number of scientific papers and is co-author of "New Zealand fish, a complete guide". He also contributes to the regular articles "Museum Marine File" and "Something Fishy" in the monthly fishing magazines "Seafood New Zealand" and "New Zealand Fishing News".
