Visitor information

Te Papa is New Zealand's national museum, offering visitors a unique and authentic experience of this country's treasures and stories. Over five floors, you can explore the nation's nature, art, history, and heritage - from the shaping of its land to the spirit of its diverse peoples, from its unique wildlife to its distinctive art and visual culture.

Opening hours

The Museum is open every day of the year, including public holidays.
Hours: 10am−6pm,
except on Thursdays, open 10am−9pm.

Te Papa Store and Te Papa Kids' Store:
9am–6pm every day, until 9pm on Thursdays
(phone +64 (0)4 381 7441 and 7464).
Te Papa Cafe: 9am–5pm every day.
Level 4 Espresso: 10am–6pm every day, until 9pm on Thursdays.

Admission and charges

Entry is free.
Charges apply to some short-term exhibitions, the Our Space rides, some Discovery Centres activities and StoryPlace.

Parking

Open and covered parking space is available at Te Papa seven days a week: $3.50 per hour up to a daily maximum of $12, or $6 for the evening if you arrive after 5pm. more>
