Te Huka ā Tai, Level 4 – weaving, stilt walking, rhythm sticks, dress up, and poi

Inspiration Station, Level 4 – giant mechanical baby, the ‘It’ monster, ever-changing Delectable Collectables, and the Kiwi Corner Store

Level 2, $2 each for children and adults 

Spend a magical time in StoryPlace!
A special part of Te Papa where preschool children (12 months-5 years), together with their caregivers, explore museum-related themes together through play and make-believe.

Three session times daily: 10.30am–11.15am, 11.30am–12.15pm, 1.30pm–2.15pm

Awesome Forces

Awesome Forces shows how New Zealand’s dynamic landscape was shaped. Get shaken up in the earthquake house, learn about volcanoes, and discover biological treasures, including the massive moa bird, the tuatara (a dinosaur-age reptile), and giant land snails.

Mountains to Sea

Pygmy blue whale skeleton, Mountains to Sea exhibition, Te Papa

Mountains to Sea presents New Zealand's diverse range of creatures and plants in a sweep from its high places to the deep underwater off its shores. Over 2500 native plants and animals make up the displays, ranging from minuscule insects to the gigantic skeleton of a 21-metre pygmy blue whale.

Bush City is a living, growing exhibition that brings New Zealand's great outdoors into the city.  Cross a swing-bridge, visit a glow-worm cave or a wetland, climb a lava flow, dig for fossils – or simply have a quiet time in the fresh air.

Golden Days
Level 4, free entry. Sessions run every 20 minutes

Golden Days is a wonderful piece of 'walk-in theatre' – and one of Te Papa's most innovative and popular places. Enter a cluttered 'junkshop', and trigger a magical drama as the key moments in the life of New Zealand play before you.
