  • Painting the View: Constable, Turner, and British Watercolourists 1760 – 1860

    This selection from Te Papa’s collection of watercolours was drawn from the period when watercolour painting became established in England and reached its greatest sophistication in the genre of landscape painting.

  • Rita Angus: Selected works

    Building upon the success of Te Papa’s 2008 touring retrospective exhibition Rita Angus: Life & Vision and Jill Trevelyan’s prize-winning biography, Rita Angus: An artist’s life, Te Papa is very pleased to offer Rita Angus: Selected works to regional galleries.

  • Drawn from Italy: Mantegna to Kauffmann

    This selection of drawings and prints from Te Papa's collection illustrates the influence of Italian ideas about art and artists that spread throughout Europe from the time of the Renaissance.

  • The Poisoners!

    Be the detective. Meet the twisted suspects. Figure out who killed Professor Felix Splicer and what gruesome poisonous creature they used. Closed at Auckland Museum May 2012.

  • Albrecht Dürer and 16th century German printmaking

    A selection of 26 works from Te Papa's collection toured South Island venues.

  • Mō Tātou - The Ngāi Tahu Whānui Exhibition

    Mō Tātou - The Ngāi Tahu Whānui Exhibition told the story of the distinct and dynamic culture of the South Island's Ngāi Tahu people.

  • Rembrandt – The Experimental Etcher

    Rembrandt – The Experimental Etcher showcased twenty etchings by Rembrandt van Rijn (1606–1669) from the collection of the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa.

  • RITA ANGUS: Life & Vision

    140 works travelled and were shown in:
    - Dunedin (15/11/08 – 15/02/09)
    - Christchurch (07/03/09 – 05/07/09)
    - Auckland (01/08/09 – 01/11/09).

  • LOTR The Exhibition

    This international touring exhibition has now completed its international tour, having been seen by over 1.3 million people.

  • Jewelled

    Jewelled was a journey through the richness and diversity of Pacific adornment – from Papua New Guinea to the Marquesas Islands, Hawai`i and New Zealand.

  • Body Odyssey

    Where do burps come from? What makes a cut stop bleeding? Hundreds of questions about health were the focus of Body Odyssey.

  • This innovative presentation about New Zealand, created and managed by Te Papa (Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa), toured four cities in China between March and May 2007, going on display in major shopping malls to reach the widest possible audience.

  • On Location with New Zealand Geographic

    On Location presented startling and iconic images from the files of New Zealand Geographic.

  • New Zealand on Ice

    New Zealand on Ice celebrated 50 years of New Zealand’s presence in Antarctica. It presented the challenges and achievements of the vital scientific exploration carried out in this awe-inspiring and hostile environment.
