Brown Girls in Bright Red Lipstick, published by Beatnik, was launched at the Frankfurt Book Fair in October.
The collection captures a youthful urban Auckland landscape through a Pacific lens. Taking its playful title from one of Meredith’s poems, it is an accumulation of work from the past 5 years.

Courtney Sina Meredith is described as leading a generation of new poets. After her Berlin writer’s residency last spring, she toured Java for the International Indonesian Poetry Festival and in June took part in a series of arts initiatives for London's Cultural Olympiad.
Meredith’s first visual art installation, Machen Saya, was exhibited at the Mangere Arts Centre over winter, and her award-winning play, Rushing Dolls, is soon to be published in Urbanesi – a collection of plays by Pacific playwrights.
Kingsley Melhuish is an Auckland musician whose musical influences include Miles Davis and Lester Bowie. A horn and conch-shell aficionado, he recently featured in Tim Finn’s staging of White Cloud at Bats Theatre in Wellington.
