Curator Megan Tamati-Quennell talks about Aroha Redux (2012) – a new 4-minute video animation created by artist Lisa Reihana for her installation Mai i te aroha, ko te aroha.
Mai i te aroha, ko te aroha (From love, comes love) is on display at Te Ara a Hine – the entrance to Te Papa’s marae, Te Hono ki Hawaiki. The new video takes the form of a digital tukutuku (woven panel) and connects with works in the existing installation.
Aroha Redux was commissioned from Reihana to celebrate this year’s Matariki festival.
