Join acclaimed theatre director Nina Nawalowalo, popular musician Jimi Nathu, and poet Teresia Teaiwa at Viti Bahut Jalum! – an evening celebrating Fijian Language Week.

Viti Bahut Jalum! is a blend of Fijian and Hindi. It loosely translates as ‘Fantastic Fiji!’ The evening is the first of many nationwide events to celebrate Fijian Language Week (7–13 October) and Fiji Independence day (10 October).

Nina Nawalowalo represented Wellington and New Zealand in basketball before beginning a career in mime, magic, and theatre. She has toured internationally, and her most recent show ‘Masi’ premiered at the New Zealand International Festival of the Arts in 2012.

Jimi Nathu debuted on the Suva nightclub scene in the 1960s. He continues to enthral audiences in Fiji, India, Australia, and New Zealand with both English-language and Hindi hits like ‘Imli Chutney’. He released a new album in 2013 entitled Jungli Murga.

Teresia Teaiwa’s poetry has appeared in many international publications, and her solo CD of poetry I can see Fiji was released in 2008. She was invited to perform at Poetry Parnassus, a gathering of over 200 poets that was part of the London Olympiad in 2012.
