Farewell the Scots
Come and join in the festivities to celebrate the closing of The Scots in New Zealand exhibition. Enjoy an uplifting musical performance from Fiddlelore to commemorate the end of this exhibition’s two-and-a-half-year run.
The group play with a joy and exuberance that has endeared them to audiences everywhere they go. With a rapidly expanding repertoire of both traditional and original material, they also incorporate a variety of instruments and vocal items into their fun, foot-stomping performances.
Fiddlelore
The three young women in the group – Emily Roughton, Kathleen Wojcik, and Grace Foote (who unfortunately won’t be able to join them this weekend) – came together three years ago after discovering their mutual passion for the dancing fiddle music of Scotland and Cape Breton. They formed Fiddlelore and have been inseparable ever since. Guitarist Mark Mazengarb, a graduate in classical performance at the Wellington Conservatorium of Music, recently joined forces with Fiddlelore after hearing them perform at the Auckland Folk Festival in January 2008.
