What did gold mean to the Aztecs? Geologist Hamish Campbell discusses the origins of this precious metal, and its significance both to Mexico and New Zealand.

Hamish Campbell, GNS scientist, explains the origins, source, and distribution of gold in the Earth's crust with specific reference to NZ and Mexico. He considers the relevance and value of gold to Aztec and Spanish cultures in the 14th to 16th centuries.
