The lure of Paris

The sights, tastes, and vibrancy of Paris exerted a powerful attraction for artists in the late 1800s, especially those from America. They came in droves to study in the studios of artists like Gérôme and Bouguereau. Many of them watched the unfolding of impressionism with fascination – if sometimes a touch of horror.

In this lecture, Rebecca considers the artistic and cultural experiences of artists working in Paris, many of whom were irrevocably influenced by their time in the centre of the art world.

High tea and exhibition viewing

The lecture is followed by a fabulous afternoon tea prepared by Executive Chef Bernd Lippmann and his team.

An exclusive viewing of the current international exhibition Colour & Light: Impressionism from France and America is also included.

Book early

This could be an early Christmas present, or a lovely way to catch up with a friend before Christmas and the holiday season. This was a ‘sold out’ event last year – book early so you don’t miss out! Numbers are limited.
