The University of Auckland’s Professor John Boys is a co-founder of HaloIPT – the first company in the world to commercialise wireless charging technology for electric cars. He gives this year’s IPENZ Pickering Lecture on the future of road technology.

Professor John Boys

John Boys is Professor of Electronics at the University of Auckland’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. His specialist research areas are power electronics and inductive power transfer. John is a Fellow of the Royal Society of New Zealand and a Distinguished Fellow of IPENZ.

The Pickering Lecture Series

The IPENZ Pickering Lecture Series aims to stimulate interest in engineering matters in the community. The free lectures are named in honour of Dr William Pickering (1910–2004), a Wellington-born engineer and scientist who was a leading light in the United States space programme.
