Thank you to all those who tuned in to our live web cast of Kaumatua Kapa Haka in 2009. We had an estimated online audience of up to 10,000, with approximately 2,000 from overseas including viewers in England, Australia, America and Switzerland. We also had a live audience of around 6,000 people at Te Papa over the weekend. We look forward to seeing you all again next year!

A rare opportunity to witness the grace, elegance, and beauty of senior Māori performing arts groups from around Aotearoa.

Each kaumātua group celebrates an iconic composer from the 20th century including Kohine Ponika, Sir Apirana Ngata, Sir Kingi Ihaka, and Tuini Ngawai. Among the performers are the children and mokopuna (grandchildren) of these composers, providing a living link to these well known waiata (songs) and haka.

This event has been streamed live on the internet, with the support of TelstraClear, to communities around the world.
