About the musician

Michelle Velvin is studying classical harp and composition at the New Zealand School of Music. In 2012, she won second place at the Adelaide Harp Festival in Australia. Michelle was a finalist in the 2012 NZSO Todd Young Composer Awards, as well as a finalist in the Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra’s Secondary School Composition Competition in 2010.

Michelle plays in the NZSM orchestra, and has also played principal harp with Wellington Youth Orchestra, Wellington Chamber Orchestra, the Vector Orchestra Wellington, Kapiti Orchestra, and the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra.
