Join Sandy Heffernan as she explores tapa from the perspective of a textiles expert. Bark cloth is made by hand, using felting, pounding, moulding, stretching, and colouring techniques. The techniques are a testament to human ingenuity, and much of the cloth exhibited in Paperskin is rich in cultural meaning and narrative significance. Artworks from the exhibition take centre stage in Sandy’s presentation.

Sandy is a Senior Lecturer and the Head of Textile Design at the College of Creative Arts, Massey University, Wellington.
