There are many birds in Māori legends – and they are a very important part of New Zealand’s environment. Before humans got here, bats were the only mammals – and so birds were the ferocious hunters and grazing vegetarians!

This weekend we’ll make a simple, elegant bird puppet to star in your own bird story.
