Soprano Pepe Becker completed a BMus in Composition at Wellington’s Victoria University in 1987, and studied baroque singing in London and at The Hague’s Koninklijk Conservatorium.
Pepe has sung professionally with a number of early music groups overseas. She now appears regularly as a soprano soloist with chamber groups, choirs, and orchestras throughout New Zealand. She is a recording artist for Radio New Zealand Concert and has featured as a soloist on several commercial CDs.
Pepe is a member of Voices New Zealand Chamber Choir and also directs her own vocal ensemble, Baroque Voices.
Stephen Pickett plays Renaissance and baroque lute, theorbo, and guitar, and is a founding member of the Lute Society of New Zealand. He studied classical guitar with Matthew Marshall at the Massey University Conservatorium of Music in Wellington, and studied lute with William Bower at the New Zealand School of Music.
Stephen has performed with the Tudor Consort, Baroque Voices, Academia Sanctae Mariae, and with Pepe in the Chanterelle Ensemble. He also performs regularly as a jazz guitarist.
