Viet Cong flag
Flag 1967, Lowe, Jeremy (1945–2008), Wellington. Gift of Jeremy Lowe, 2007. Te Papa
This flag was flown during anti-Vietnam War protests in New Zealand in January 1967, when South Vietnam's Premier, Air Vice-Marshal Ky, was visiting.
'Viet Cong' was a name given to the National Liberation Front and its supporters. It was a political organisation and guerrilla army that fought the South Vietnamese government, the US, and its allies during the Vietnam War.
