Free-market culture of excess

The culture of excess that developed in the mid 1980s under free-market 'Rogernomics' policies was attracting criticism by the 1990s. Economic and social divisions had increased in New Zealand. Yet even after the 1987 stock market crash, some people continued enjoying the 'high life'.
