Activities

1.

Discussion

As a class, discuss a time when you went on a journey and something went wrong.  What happened? How did you feel? How was the situation resolved?

2.

Tricky situations

In small groups, consider the image or piece of writing that the teacher has given you. This shows a predicament or complication that people faced in an expedition. Discuss and record:

  • what voyage you think it is
  • what happened on this voyage
  • when it happened
  • who was involved
  • what the outcome(s) may have been.
3.

Exploring drama

In your group, develop scenes, freeze frames, or a role-play based on your ideas. Perform these to the class.

4.

Research

In your group, research the actual events relating to the image or piece of writing you were working with.
