Education

Te Papa’s education programme for Formula One™ – The Great Design Race gives students the opportunity to view the exhibition in depth.

The programme has strong links to the Technology Curriculum, and is suitable for both primary and secondary students, years 1–12.

What will students learn about?

The programme focuses on the adaptations and innovations that have occurred in Formula One racing over the last 50 years.

Students will learn about:

  • how the technology and design of F1 cars has evolved over time
  • the changing world of F1
  • famous New Zealand F1 drivers

By the end of the programme, students will be able to directly compare the various cars in the exhibition and the ideas that lead to their development.

‘Adaptation and innovation are at the heart of technological practice.’
