From a young woman entering her first singing competition to world famous lyric soprano, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa has always known how she wants to express herself through what she wears.

In this exhibition on display at Te Papa from September 2003 to August 2004, sixteen dresses – including those pictured here – captured personally significant memories and highlights of her career, described in her own words.
