Celebrate Diwali at Te Papa with a performance of Ramayana Dance Drama, the story of King Rama, presented by Bhaskar’s Arts Academy from Singapore.

This performance is inspired by several sources. One is the Ramayana, an epic poem over 2,000 years old. It was written by Valmiki, also known as the Aadikavi, or the first Sanskrit poet, and tells the story of Rama and his wife Sitadevi. Sita’s Complaint, by contemporary Singaporean poet Simon Tay, was another inspiration for the drama.
