The Huakina is the event to be at to connect, share and to gain knowledge and inspiration from your peers who are at a similar career stage as you. Programmed by EMPs, for EMPs, it's designed to provide a forum in which we can share experiences, issues and ideas while also giving emerging museum professionals the opportunity to gain experience in presenting in front of a group in a non-threatening setting.

We are still accepting submissions for talks, including for a favourite session from past Huakina on 'Museum Nightmares':

As EMPs, we sometimes learn the hard way, that what we thought would be a dream job or a project turns into something we didn't quite anticipate.

- What were the red flags?
- How could things have been done differently?
- What impact has the experience brought you?

Be as formal or informal as you like, we invite you to share your story for ten minutes in a safe-space, as part of the Museum Nightmares session.

Send your submission to emp@museumsaotearoa.org.nz by Friday 7 February.

Register via the Museums Aotearoa conference page

(scroll down to 'Registration fee' and select 'Huakina, 16 May'. You do not need to attend the main conference to register for this event).

Registration closes Sunday 3 May.
