About Duncan Campbell 

Duncan Campbell is a graduate of Victoria University of Wellington, and spent 1976–78 in China as an exchange student. Since then, he has taught modern and classical Chinese, and aspects of Chinese history, at the University of Auckland, Victoria University of Wellington, and the Australian National University. Between 2015 and 2016, he was Curator of the Chinese Garden at the Huntingdon Library in San Marino, US. The bulk of his research concentrates on the literary and material culture of late imperial China, with particular reference to the late Ming–early Qing period (1550s–1660s).
