Access times

Please arrange and confirm access times with your Functions Coordinator.

Goods can be delivered to our dockway (loading bay) between 8.30am and 4pm, Monday–Friday.


For safety reasons, no equipment or deliveries can be brought through Te Papa’s main entrance doors. Please use our dockway.

Dropping off to our dockway

Trade delivery hours: 8.30am–4pm, Monday–Friday
Please do not deliver goods more than 24 hours before your event.

When dropping goods off at our dockway, please:

  • don’t leave vehicles unattended
  • don’t use the car parks in the dockway area.

Please also include:

  • the name and date of the conference/event
  • the exhibitor’s name and stand number (if applicable)

Moving goods around Te Papa

It’s your responsibility to move equipment from the dockway to your venue. A Te Papa staff member will escort you.


You’re welcome to use our trolleys. Please use one with an appropriate weight rating and return it as soon as possible – they’re in heavy demand.

Goods lift

Only trained personnel may operate our goods lift. Please load and unload your goods directly outside the lift rather than carrying them farther, so that the lift can be used by others.


Please let your Functions Coordinator know at least 10 days before your event if you need a forklift.

Our forklift has a load capacity rating of 1,200 kilograms.

Forklift drivers

We can supply a driver. Charges may apply outside normal dockway hours.

If you’re providing your own driver, they’ll need to have an F-class licence and be certified by Competenz. Please provide their documentation at least 10 days before the event and again on the day(s) of use.


It’s your responsibility to remove all equipment and boxes from the venue at the end of your event. Storage charges for goods not removed within 24 hours are shown below.

Please label any goods to be couriered and leave them at our dockway – you’ll need to arrange the courier.

For a trade exhibitors’ courier form, just ask your Functions Coordinator.


Please talk to your Functions Coordinator at least one week in advance if you have any large crates or transport cases that need to be housed during or after your event.

We have limited storage space and reserve the right to charge storage fees for goods not removed within 24 hours of an event.

Storage fees

  • Up to 1 cubic metre: $25 plus GST per day
  • More than 1 cubic metre: $45 plus GST per day
