Japanese Craft Fun for Kids

Celebrate Japan’s Children’s Day! Making a carp-shaped streamer, try origami paper folding, or test your skill at kendama, a cup-and-ball game.

Kodomo no Hi is a national holiday in Japan dedicated to appreciating children – and having fun!

Have a go at popular traditional craft activities, ideal for ages 5 to 12:

  • make a koinobori carp streamer out of paper
  • try origami paper folding
  • play a kendama cup-and-ball game.

Get tips and help from friendly past and future Japanese Exchange and Teaching Programme participants.
