The Kids’ Election

Kids – you finally get to vote! For two days only, speak up about what you want, dress up, and do politics your way.

  • When Sat 24 Nov – Sun 25 Nov 2018, 11.00am–3.00pm
  • Where
    Te Marae, Level 4
  • Cost Free event

Get hands-on with how democracy works at The Kids' Election – a pop-up polling booth especially for tamariki. Women got the vote 125 years ago – now kids can too!

Rock up to the polling booth, and cast your vote on issues chosen by other kids. Add your own suggestions for voting topics.

Something bugging you? Writing your own protest placard about it, and bring attention to the things that matter most to you.

Dress up in our costumes – become an activist, a suffragette, a politician, or something completely different!

Three girls hold up signs that read 'Equality for everyone', 'Fix our housing problem now', and 'Make rivers clean'

We’ve teamed up with Barbarian Productions

Our friends at Barbarian Productions specialise in creating fun, engaging, and inclusive spaces that bring people together around complex social themes. The Kids' Election celebrates 125 years of women’s suffrage. It gives a voice to tamariki in a sphere usually just for adults, and supplies tools to help them ‘Do It for Themselves’.
