Celebrate Visa Wellington On a Plate festival by delving deeper into the rich kōrero (discussions) behind the city’s vibrant food scene.
During this four week series of short talks, we will hear from:
- Tue 3 Aug – Lorenzo Bresolin of Scopa and 1154 on the history of the Italian community and the ongoing legacy the Bresolin name has on the Wellington food scene.
- Tue 10 Aug – Esther Fung from the Wellington Chinese Association on the cookhouses providing the comfort of home cooking to a mainly bachelor community in Haining Street at the turn of the 20th century, and the influences on our dining scene from the diversity of more recent Chinese immigrants.
- Tue 17 Aug – Andrew Economous of the Cypriot Community on Wellington’s once-thriving, now almost forgotten Hellenic Mile.
- Tue 24 Aug – Head of Mission Her Excellency Ms Nur Izzah Wong Mee Choo, High Commissioner for Malaysia on Wellington’s love of Malaysian food.
