Rita Angus painted many portraits, of herself and of others. Linda Waters and Tijana Cvetkovic, painting conservators at Te Papa, have studied the development of Rita’s painting technique by closely examining her depiction of eyes.

In this illustrated talk, Linda will share some of their discoveries and insights revealed when examining the paintings in the Conservation laboratory.
