Coming soon: Art at Te Papa
We’re building a spectacular new art gallery at Te Papa, opening February 2018.
- When Opens February 2018
- Where Levels 4 & 5
Opening on levels four and five, the new gallery will increase in size by 35% to 3,980 m2 – roughly the size of 15 tennis courts. It means we can show more works from Aotearoa New Zealand’s art collection, new large-scale artworks, and showcase local and international artists.
The new art space will encourage kids and adults to explore, learn, play, and have fun with art.
There’ll be something for everyone. Our art collection belongs to all New Zealanders, and everyone is welcome to come and be inspired and find their own meanings in what they see in the new gallery.
Te Papa will remain open while the new gallery is being built, with plenty to see and do. For keen art fans, there’s still plenty of art on display within our other exhibitions – see if you can find them all!
