Ngā kōwhiringa mahi nō Te Papa.

Rita Angus created a distinctive vision of a new, modern New Zealand and is one of New Zealand’s most iconic artists. This exhibition brings together a rich collection of 20 of her oil paintings.

Over the course of her life, she produced a remarkable body of paintings. A committed feminist and a pacifist, Angus’s work was deeply entwined with her view of the world. In her portraits and landscape paintings, she created a unique image of 20th-century Aotearoa.

This exhibition brings together 20 of Rita Angus’s oil paintings, from both Te Papa’s own collection and from the Rita Angus Estate Collection, which has been on loan to Te Papa since 1972.
