Turn your museum experience into a recognised qualification with the New Zealand Certificate in Museum Practice.
About the qualification
This is an entry-level qualification for people working or volunteering in museums. You’ll get a broad understanding of museum practice through self-paced, accessible modules. You’ll have 18 months to complete the qualification.
Modules include:
• the role of Māori in museums
• safety and security practices for museums
• developing, organising and maintaining museum collections
• managing the installation of a museum exhibition
• planning a tour
• evaluating a public programme.
The qualification is administrated by ServiceIQ, an industry-based training organisation.

Cost
If your organisation:
• has a workplace assessor
• has a Zero Fees ServiceIQ MoU, or
• is a not for profit organisation, and
• you are a domestic learner
It’s free. Ask your human resources department for advice.
If none of the above apply to you, fees ranging between $200 and $1,586 (excl GST) will apply.
