Te Papa Venues

Situated on Wellington’s waterfront, Te Papa offers the city’s largest collection of event spaces, light-filled, flexible, and framed by harbour views. From conferences and meetings to weddings and school balls, every event sits among award-winning exhibitions and the taonga of the nation. We also extend our expertise to Tākina, Wellington’s new Convention and Exhibition Centre, providing additional versatile spaces for conferences, exhibitions, and large-scale gatherings.

As a bicultural institution, we work closely with local iwi, drawing on traditions and values to create a true sense of place. Delegates can explore our galleries, celebrating Aotearoa New Zealand’s unique natural environment, or discovering fresh perspectives through culture and art, including the national art collection.

Our chefs design menus that showcase the best of locally sourced ingredients, partnering with iwi-owned and regional suppliers. We donate any leftovers to Kaibosh, a leading food-rescue charity, and reinvest revenue from every event back into Te Papa to support our exhibitions, collections, and ongoing cultural work.

Our expert team also manages venues Tākina, Wellington’s new Convention and Exhibition Centre, providing additional versatile spaces for conferences, exhibitions, and large-scale gatherings. We deliver our venues mahi for both Te Papa and Tākina under the name Tākina Events.
