Programme options

Sessions begin at 9am Monday–Friday, before the museum opens to the public. Booking is essential.

We recommend a group size of 30 students for all virtual explorers.

Choose one of the following programmes:

  • Kaupapa Māori – Explore Te Ao Māori through taonga on display. Note: some restrictions apply.
  • Te Taiao Explorer – Learn about the unique fauna and flora of Aotearoa New Zealand. Explore the various relationships that have formed between te taiao and people. Active Earth elements can be added to this tour on request, including looking at earthquakes, volcanoes, geology, and the layers of the earth.
  • Tangata o le Moana: The story of Pacific people in New Zealand – Explore an exhibition about the unique cultures of the Pacific, their contribution to and adaptation of materials and stories in Aotearoa New Zealand. 
  • Gallipoli perspectives – Be guided through Te Papa’s award winning exhibition while connecting with the stories and impacts of WW1: Gallipoli on people from Aotearoa New Zealand.
  • Art Explorer – Discover the diversity of artworks and ideas on display in Toi | Art. Paintings, sculptures installations, and moving image.
  • Arrivals – Discover the motivation for travel to Aotearoa New Zealand, discuss the ‘push’ and ‘pull’ factors that result in the multicultural society we see today.

You will need:

  • a computer with a webcam and microphone
