We're joining forces with Circa Theatre to create a new cultural precinct

Wed 10 May 2017

Everybody needs good neighbours – so we're joining forces with our nearest, Circa Theatre.

Through a closer working relationship we aim to create a cultural heart of Wellington and one that will increasingly attract more visitors, both local and international.

A memorandum of understanding, to be signed today, recognises the shared connections between Te Papa and Circa. It reflects a mutual desire to collaborate, commercially and creatively, in order to bring even greater cultural and artistic offerings to the public.

This includes the development of a vibrant and dynamic cultural precinct in the physical space between us.

“It makes sense to have a closer working arrangement between Te Papa and Circa Theatre,” Chief Executive Rick Ellis said.

“We are not just neighbours in proximity, but we also share the same goals in wanting to develop a cultural hub in the Wellington waterfront space.
