Two games by New Zealand designers are to be included in the blockbuster new exhibition Game Masters when it opens at Te Papa on 15 December 2012.
The two games have been selected to represent both ends of game development in New Zealand, and to celebrate New Zealand’s contribution to the game development industry.
Shatter was developed in 2009 by Wellington-based studio Sidhe – New Zealand’s largest games producer. A brick-breaking game with a retro feel, Shatter has broken boundaries with its vibrant art and captivating game play.
Chopper 2 was designed, programmed, and produced by David Frampton of one-man operation Majic Jungle. Released in 2010, this technically and artistically innovative 3D game features lush, beautifully rendered landscapes and an original soundtrack.
Visa cardholders will have exclusive access to Game Masters exhibition tickets in the Visa Entertainment pre-sale from 9am on Monday 15 October. Visa cardholders will also have access to a strictly limited number of $5 tickets to the exclusive Visa preview day on Friday 14 December. General presale tickets will go on sale on Thursday 18 October. To purchase your ticket, visit tepapa.govt.nz/gamemasters
Game Masters features over 100 playable games, as well as original concept art, storyboards, character sketches, animation tests, and interviews with game designers.
Game Masters has been developed by the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) in Melbourne. Te Papa is the exhibition’s exclusive New Zealand venue.
