The Arms Act 2026 introduced significant changes for museums that hold or display firearms. Changes include the introduction of a dedicated Museum Licence and Museum Worker Licence, replacing arrangements that required museums to operate under business-style licences. Museums holding firearms collections must continue to meet registry, security, transport and storage requirements.
This session will provide an overview of the new framework, what it means for collection management and display, and the practical steps museums need to take to ensure ongoing compliance.
