Taikura brings together regional, marae-based elders from as far north as Ngāti Wai to as far south as Ngāi Tahu/Waitaha. Each year, our kaumātua share traditional waiata, haka, and kōrero tuku iho in their 20-minute performances over the weekend’s festivities.

Taikura celebrates the rich mātauranga and shared through the Māori performing art of kapa haka.

Nau mai! Haere mai! Tautoko mai! Come, enjoy, celebrate!

Join us in Soundings Theatre, or watch via livestream (to come) and on our Te Papa Facebook page.
